Welcome 2022!!
I thought I would round up the last 12 months and 2021 was a crazy year, starting off with a 4 month closure of my studio which was a stressful, sad situation because I love what I do and having to turn clients away to not be able to shoot their pregnancy or newborn photoshoots really made me feel so sad.
However, it did start with a BANG. I had my first national magazine feature with a COVER image and a double page spread on the inside. This was the Amateur Photographer magazine and it was amazing to see it in print and purchase a copy myself.
The next best thing to follow this amazing feature was the invitation to join Nikon as a Z Creator, this meant that I became a part of an international community of photographers who shoot with the latest mirrorless equipment. I wrote about that earlier last year and you can read more here.
Furthermore, this lead to even more fantastic opportunities including speaking at The Photography Show in September 2021 on The Nikon School’s stage and on a Behind The Lens stage too. This was a huge experience for me, to speak on an incredible platform in front of aspiring and professional photographers. There were many publications on the run up to the show such as this one from E Photo Zine and that was such a boost to my confidence and truly humbling at the same time.
I have been lucky enough to win a number of national and international awards including WPPI, WPI, APNPI, SWPP to name but a few and knowing that work I have created has achieved so much means everything.
In September, I shared a joint workshop with an incredible photographer called Russ Jackson and we shared the day teaching 4 attendees. It was a humbling experience to know that they chose us for our training and I really enjoyed sharing knowledge and learning, too.
Other incredible opportunities include becoming an ambassador for The Societies of Wedding and Portrait Photographers and Hand Painted Backdrops UK.
To round off the year, I finished with an incredible interview whih was featured on F Stoppers, an international community online which offers various resources, interviews and tutorials to photographers and retouchers worldwide! Some of my absolute idols have been featured here and to have this in my repertoire gave me the biggest boost!
